Biography

John B Gillespie was enumerated at Franklin County, Georgia for the August 13, United States Census, 1850. He was noted as born 1843 in Georgia as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are male Milton W Gillespie, female Melissa H Gillespie, female Martha L Gillespie, female Mary E Gillespie, female Bethenia E Gillespie, male Jefferson B Gillespie, female Harrick A Gillespie, male Patterson C Gillespie and female Charity M Gillespie.[1]

John L Gillespie was enumerated as self at Prairie Plains, Grimes County, Texas for the June 10, United States Census, 1880. He was noted as a farmer, born 1842 in Georgia and married as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are wife Amelia L Gillespie, daughter Minnie L Gillespie, son William L Gillespie, son John M Gillespie and other Marietta Gillespie.[2]

J L Gillespie was listed as the father of John Marion Gillespie who died September 12, 1922 in Belcher, Caddo Parish, Louisiana. The mother was listed as Armelia Louise Jones and the wife Mattie Estelle Gillespie.[3]

John Laurie Gillespie is buried at Old Oakland Cemetery in Roans Prairie, Grimes County, Texas.[4]
