He was noted as a farmer, born 1845 in Georgia and married as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are wife Harriet L Gillespie, daughter Martha F Gillespie, daughter Amanda L Gillespie, son John J Gillespie, daughter Lela A Gillespie and son George B Gillespie.^[4]
