Biography

Clayton Winford Gillespie was born August 26, 1889 in Brownwood, Texas to father Julian Gillespie and mother Cora Walker.^[1]

Clayton Gillespie was enumerated as stepson of the head of household in Justice Precinct 5, Brown County, Texas for the June 7, United States Census, 1900. He was noted as at school, born August 1889 in Texas and single as seen in an image of the original census. Also included in the household are head James Martin, wife Cora Martin, daughter Martha A Martin, son Willie Martin, son Edgar Martin, son J P Martin and stepson Benjamin Gillespie.^[2]
