Biography

G L Gillespie was enumerated as head of the household in Justice Precinct 2 (north part), Hopkins County, Texas for the June 14, United States Census, 1900. He was noted as a blacksmith and born July 1866 in Georgia. He had been married six years and was an owner as seen in an image of the original census. Also included in the household are wife L E Gillespie, son Oreta Gillespie and daughter Lorta Gillespie.^[1]

Groves Lowry Gillespie was listed as the father of Viola Venita Gillespie who was born October 15, 1904 in Pittsburg, Camp County, Texas. The mother was listed as Lucinda Elizabeth Smith.^[2]

He was noted as born 1867 in Georgia and married. He was an owner and a proprietor (black smith shop) as seen in the image of the original census. Also included in the household are wife Elizabeth Gillispie, son Oreta P Gillispie, daughter Loueta Gillispie, daughter Viola Gillispie, daughter Venice Gillispie, son Lex Gillispie and mother Elizabeth Gillispie.^[4]

G L Gillespie was listed as the father of Lexa David Gillespie who died December 20, 1929 in Pittsburg, Camp County, Texas. The mother was listed as L E Gillespie.^[5]

Grover Gillespie was enumerated as head of the household at Mill Street, Pittsburg, Camp County, Texas for the April 4, United States Census, 1930. He was noted as born 1867 in Georgia and married. He was first married at the age of twenty-seven. He was an owner of a home worth $2000 and a blacksmith (own shop) as seen in an image of the original census. Also included in the household are wife Lucindy E Gillespie, daughter Viola Gillespie and daughter Venice Gillespie.^[6]
