Janet was born in 1826. Janet Gillespie married James Edgar Gillespie. James had been charged with a paternity suit in Ayrshire in 1857. They then emigrated to Australia, arriving in 1859. James had changed his name to Gillespie (Gillespey) for the passage and continued to use that surname in the colony. Janet Gillespie passed away in 1909 at Wallsend, New South Wales, Australia.[1]
