Biography

Mary was born in 1825. She passed away in 1900.

• Daughter of Samuel Wilds and Harriet Pegues Godfrey Gillespie. Mary married Dr. Albert Micajah Shipp on April 23, 1846. They were the parents of nine children.

Mary was born and died at Rose Hill Plantation in Marlboro county.

"Mrs. Shipp impressed everyone with her gentleness. She was of small stature and had a rich olive complexion, with dark hair, slightly waving and always worn neatly parted.

She was an ideal mother, guarding the habits and thoughts of her children carefully. The Shipp home was a happy one. Truly the latchstring of her door hung on the outside"
