Like many young men of his day, he went west to 'New Connecticut'. By 1801 he had settled in Ashtabula county, Ohio. He married Dyantha Wilcox nearby in 1809. They soon moved southwest to Portage county (now Summit county) Ohio. They lived in Tallmadge, then Middlebury (now part of Akron), then Norton for many years. In their final years they moved to southwest Michigan.
According to Bronson, they had four children, all born in Tallmadge.
He passed away in 1859.
