Biography

Michael Gilliatt was born on 2 March 1788, in Granville Township, Annapolis, Nova Scotia, Canada, to William Gilliatt and Rebecca Appleby.

He married Amelia Parker on 11 April 1810, in Granville Township, Annapolis, Nova Scotia, Canada.

(“Old” Granville Township Book, handwritten copy on microfilm at PAC, page 178; other Granville Township Book, at Halifax, page 108) (IGI: due to microfilming error with Halifax copy, this entry was part of the microfilming of Granville, All Saints Anglican Parish Register and then inadvertently extracted in 1987 as a “Granville, All Saints Anglican” record) [1]

They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 1 daughter. Michael Gilliat and Amelia Parker married 11 Apr 1810

He married Christiana Elizabeth Marshall, 18 Sept 1851 at Annapolis, Nova Scotia. Bond and cover dated 18 Sep 1851, between Michael GILLIATT, AND, Christiana MESSENGER, (actual bond not microfilmed, cover only). (Annapolis County Marriage Bonds and Licences 1851, no. 87)[3]They had 1 child, Francis Belinda Gilliat.

He died on 30 January 1868, in Granville Ferry, Annapolis Royal, Annapolis, Nova Scotia, Canada, at the age of 79, and was buried in Parker Gilliatt Cemetery, Granville Ferry, Annapolis Royal, Annapolis, Nova Scotia, Canada.
