Biography

Mary was born in 1900 in Tasmania. She was the daughter of James Gilligan and Mary Jane (Herighty) Gilligan.

Mary had a daughter, Nancy in 1919. Nancy's father was Malcolm Hay. Mary and Malcolm were not married.

At age 23 Mary passed away from Septic Perinotitis.

Mary's mother, Mary Jane Herighty, placed granddaughter Nancy Patricia Gilligan aged 2 years old, into the care of St Joseph orphanage.

Mary passed away on 15 May 1924 in Tasmania, aged 23 and was buried 19 May 1924
