Frances GILLIHAN is the daughter of Thomas GILLIHAN and his wife Lucinda "Lucy" BROWN. She was born about 1810 in Tennessee.
Frances GILLIHAN, age 20, married Rev Isaac ROUTH, Jr., age 23, on 23 October 1831 in Greene County, Illinois.[1] After the birth of their first child, they made their move with other family members to Missouri. They were the parents of several children:[2]
Lucinda R. ROUTH, b. 1832 IL; d.1903 OK
James Madison ROUTH, b. 1833 MO; d. 1907 MO
Mary Nancy W ROUTH, b. 1834 MO; d. 1873 MO
Martha ROUTH, b. 1835 MO; d. 1910 MO
daughter b, ca 1836 Mo
son b. ca 1838
Elizabeth ROUTH, b. 1839 MO; d. 1908 MO
Rachel Jane ROUTH, b. 1842 MO; d. 1879 MO (could be dau. of Grace instead)
Frances died around 1840-1842, as Isaac was probably remarried in 1842. It is not clear for available records if Frances or Grace was the mother of Rachel..[3]
Research Notes
Isaac quickly remarried after the death of Frances. The censuses do not make clear which child belongs to which wife. We can tell that Elizabeth's mother was b in Tenn and that would be Frances. And that Jonathan's mother was b. in Kentucky which is Grace. Rachel dies before we have a census that would have told us and her age on the 1850 and 1860 switches position with Jonathon, so it isn't obvious which is older even. Jonathon has a grave marker, no source for Rachel's dates. Family letters, etc could be helpful here.
