: "Leo had bad eyes. … It wasn't just distance vision, as that could have been corrected with glasses. He probably had astigmatism, dry macular degeneration and glaucoma. … His vision problems prevented him from going very far in school. ... I remember being told that [his mother] Katherine bought the farm for Leo so that he could make a living and support a family without a lot of formal education. … I doubt that farming was Leo's dream and the fact that he couldn't see much likely inhibited his success. I believe the 2 sons took over the farm after Leo died." <ref> Electronic communication from Gena Gates to Albertus 8 Oct 2019 </ref>

Hallo Nancy. Welcome to WikiTree. Here, differently than at Ancestry.com, there is only one profile per ancestor. So that if you want to add a person to your family tree, you can connect an already existing profile to it, without creating a duplicate profile. Thank you for suggesting the merge of your profile for Leo James Gillispie into the this one; in fact, this is how a merge always takes place at WikiTree: the newer profile is merged into the older one. The beauty of Wikitree is that, because there is only one profile per person, we can immediately see to whom we are related! This way i have found many relatives - and ancestors - whom i otherwise never would have known about. You are Leo's daughter, if i understand correctly! Then you and I are 2nd cousins, since you are the grandaughter of Katherine Whittaker, and i am the grandson of Nellie Whittaker, her sister! I wish you much fruitful research and much satisfaction at this fantastic genetic-genealogical site!
