Obituary George W. Gilmore was born June 19, 1869 in Christian County and died January 15, 1949, in his home at Billings, at the age of 76 years. On April 1, 1900 he married Ella Holderby and to this union were born five children. Two infant sons preceded him in death. At the age of 44 years he was united with the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. Later, he moved his membership to the Riverdale Baptist Church. Survivors include the widow, Ella of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Delpha Maples of Clever, Mrs. Bessie Holstien of Highlandville and Mrs. Georgia Aleshire of Springfield; one sister, Mrs. Callie Feaster of Aurora; ten grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church with the Rev. Worth Caughron officiating. Burial was made in the Frazier Cemetery near Boaz under the direction of the Maples-Harris Funeral Home.
George's death certificate gives parents name unknown but says he was adopted by Elixander (Alexander) Young. In 1900 he is in the census of with his wife Ella and living in the household of his adoptive mother Mary S. Young. In 1880 George's sister Calladonia "Callie" Gillmore is living with their mother Margret and they are next door to A. A. and Mary S. Young
