This person is an ancestor of President Abraham Lincoln.
Bridget Gilman, daughter of Edward Gilman of Hingham, was born c1582 in England, where she died. About 1600 she married Edward LINCOLN, son of Richard Lincoln. They had two known sons: 1) Thomas, who came to the United States with his Aunt Mary Jacob in 1633: and 2) Samuel, a direct ancestor of President Abraham Lincoln.
Samuel Lincoln was a weaver from Hingham, England and came to Hingham, Massachusetts in 1637, per the "World Book Encyclopedia". Samuel's son, a) Mordecai, had a great—grandson named Abraham who was killed by an Indian in Kentucky in 1786, and who had five children. One of Abraham's sons was Thomas Lincoln who first married Nancy BANKS in 1806, but she died in 1818. On 2 December 1819 his second marriage was to Sarah (Buck) JOHNSTON, a widow with three children. These were the parents of President Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865).
