Lieutenant John Gilmer served with Amherst County Militia, Virginia Militia during the American Revolution.

In the American Revolutionary War, Lieutenant john Blair Gilmer served under the Marquis de Lafayette. Fought at the siege of Yorktown. And he received bounty grant of land in Wilkes County, Georgia for his services.

John was born in 1748. He passed away in 1793.

John Gilmer married Mildred Merriwether on 22 March 1771.[1]
