Biography

Jesse Gilmore is a part of US Black heritage.

Jesse G. Gilmore was a Baptist minister. The 1900 Census lists his birthplace as Louisiana. The 1910 Census lists his birthplace as Texas.

According to Find A Grave, he was the son of Edmund and Annie Gilmore. His wife was Angeline Hill, 1867-1937.^[1]

Jessy Gilmore is found at age 17 in the 1870 Census living in Ward 1, De Soto, Louisiana.

Louisiana; wife Angeline age 38, married 19 yrs; mother of 13, 12 now living; (next page) children: Anna age 17 b TX May 1883; Carrie age 15 b TX Jan 1885; Anjalina age 14 b LA Jul 1885; Jessie age 13 b LA Dec 1886; Pearl age 19 b LA Dec 1889; Sidney (female) age 11 b LA Aug 1888; Beula age 8 b TX March 1892; Bertha age 7 b TX Apr 1893; Josie age 4 b TX Sep 1895.^[3]

Jesse and Angeline were living at the same address in 1910. Their three youngest daughters were with them. In 1910 he was married 29 yrs (1st marriage) and living with their parents were daughters Beulah, 16, Bertha, 13 and Josie, 12.^[4]

According to his death certificate, Rev. Gilmore died of acute interstital nephritis, a disease contracted in Oklahoma.^[5]

His son Jesse Jr. was b. 1903 and died 1960.^[6]
