Biography

Agnes Gilmour (married name Lawrie) was born around 1845 in Kilmaurs, Ayrshire, Scotland, the daughter of Margaret (Bicket) Gilmour and William Gilmour.[citation needed]

Agnes arrived in Melbourne aboard the "Genghis Khan" in 1853 with her parents, and siblings: John, Hugh, and William Jnr. [1]

She married James Lawrie in 1866 in Victoria, Australia.[2]

Agnes died on 27 December 1911 in South Melbourne, Victoria.[citation needed]

Research notes

The Scottish census of 1851 gives Agnes's birthplace as Kilmaurs, whilst her elder brothers had been born in Kilmarnock.[3]

Married James Lawrie and had four children.
