Françoise Gilot is a French painter, critic and author. She was the companion of painter Pablo Picasso between 1943 and 1953 and the mother of two of his children, Claude and Paloma. She wrote Life with Picasso several years after their separation.
Françoise Gilot was married to the artist glassmaker Luc Simon from 1955 to 1962.
In 1970 she married Jonas Salk, the polio vaccine pioneer.
