Eli (Elias) was born in 1777. He was the son of Isaac Gilpin and Anna Unknown. He was a veteran of the War of 1812, serving as a Corporal in Lanier's Independent Battalion of Ohio Militia. He passed away in 1848. Father was Isaac Gilpin 1738 – 1781 Mother was Mary Ann Painter 1742 – 1785 . He married Rebecca Deford Abt 1800 In Virginia. He was in the War of 1812. Went from a Private to Corporal While Margaret stayed home and cared for 14 children. married 2nd Lela Sela Pullen 1844, 4 Aug . He died in Windsor Illinois of Fever .
