Sarah was born in Kirby Bellars, Leicestershire, in late March 1861[1] (the 1861 Census, taken on 7 April, states that she was 2 weeks old), the daughter of Joseph Gilson and his wife Sarah Wilford.
Sarah grew up with her family in Kirby Bellars. She appears in the England Censuses of 1861[1], and 1871[2]. Her listing in the 1881 Census has not yet been discovered (and cannot be found in Kirby Bellars).
Sarah married Wright Edward Tunnicliffe on 25 December 1883[3] at Kirby Bellars, Leicestershire. They raised eleven children together, of which one died in infancy. They lived out their married lives in Framland Street, Leicester. We see them listed in the England Census of 1891[4] where they lived at No 21, and then in the England Census of 1901[5] and 1911[6] where they lived at No 30, and had done since at least 1895.
Sarah died on 22 August 1935[7] at 30 Framland Street, aged 74.
