link to 1840 Census in Wilkinson Co. Mississippi where the 2 brothers and their families are on the same page. This census Quarles has only his initials of Q. S. Ginn . Both of those names give clues to the ancestry. Quarles and Strother families in Virginia are connected to the Gwynn, Winn and Ginn lines. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33SQ-GYBC-VFG?i=19&cc=1786457&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AXHRL-GXL

Quarles Strother Ginn's oldest brother, Jeptha Ginn, married Penina Mcgehee, born 1786; she was the daughter of Jacob Mcgehee (born circa 1760) and his wife Mary Scott. Jeptha and Penina Mcgee Ginn went to Wilkinson Co. Mississippi to work for her cousin, JUDGE EDWARD MCGEHEE IN WOODPILE WILKINSON COUNTY MISSISSIPPI. THE SON OF MICAJA MCGEHEE OF OGELTHORPE GA. I believe that is how Moses and Quarles Strother Ginn got out to Wilkinson County Mississippi. They were following their eldest brother, Jeptha Ginn.

Below is another link, this one to the book , "Cavaliers and pioneers; abstracts of Virginia land patents and grants, 1623-1800" pg 257 https://archive.org/details/cavalierspioneer00nuge/page/256/mode/2up?q=gowin In April 1653, a Mr. William Hoccaday is awarded 1,000 acres for the headrights of 20 people. Among the 20 are: Wm. Mackgayhe and a Wm. Gowin.

My father's, was a Ginn and his mother was a McGehee. These 2 families have intermarried down through the years. My father's great grandfather was Logan Ginn b 1825 in Huntsville Madison Co. Alabama. Logan's father and mother have not been proven with documentation, but many believe his father was Sion H. Ginn born circa 1800 in Elbert Co. Ga. His father being Jesse Ginn born 1760 in North Carolina who was given land in Elbert Co. GA for serving in the Rev War. I have done much research on these Ginn/ Gwin/Gwyn/ Wynn/ Winn lines both her in America and across the pond in Wales and Northamptonshire England. There are some remarkable connections between them all.
