Biography

Marie-Josephte was born on June 2, 1769 in Ste-Anne, Yamachiche, Maskinongé, Québec, Canada. Her parents are Augustin Girardin and Marie-Geneviève Rivard.[1][2]

She was baptized on June 2, 1769 in Ste-Anne Yamachiche, Maskinongé, Québec, Canada.[3]

Family

She married Antoine Gauthier on August 16, 1790 in Ste-Anne d'Yamachiche, Maskinongé, Québec, Canada.[4][5][6]

They had at least 3 children:

  1. Antoine Gauthier (1791-?) [7]
  2. Amable Gauthier (1792-1873) [8]
  3. Louis Gauthier (1800-1886) [9]

Death

She DID NOT pass away on December 22, 1806 in Pointe-du-Lac, Trois-Rivières, Québec, Canada BECAUSE THE WOMAN WHO DIED WAS TOO OLD TO BE HER. Also, the woman who died on that date was Josephte GIRARD and not GIRARDIN. In fact, the woman who died on that date was her mother-in-law, the mother of her husband Antoine Gauthier whose father had the same name as him.

However, she is already dead on 1816-01-22 when her daughter Josephte Gauthier marries in Maskinongé. She might have died therefore in Maskinongé.

She actually died on April 11, 1804 in Nicolet, two days after giving birth to her son Joseph Gauthier. At her death, the priest writes that her husband in Jean-Baptiste Gauthier instead of writing Antoine Gauthier.
