Biography

Mary Ruth Whittall known as Ruth was born in Smyrna (Izmir), Turkey in 1910. She was the daughter of Edmund Haydn Giraud and Ruth Whittall.

Ruth married a first cousin once removed, Willem Frank Whittall known as 'Wem' in 1941 when she was 30 and he was 25. They had 2 children and migrated to Canada a few years later. Ruth's sister Edna also migrated to Canada, with her husband Rodney Whittall.

Ruth and Willem divorced in 1966.
