Rita (Girouard) Rochon is a part of US Black heritage.
Rita Girouard, daughter of Norbert Girouard and Marie Boudreau, was born about 1886 in St. Martin Parish, Louisiana. Her parents were married during the brief period after the Civil War when interracial marriage was legal.
She married Albert Rochon around 1905 and the couple had at least 6 children. [1] They lived most of their married life in southwest Louisiana. However, in 1930 they were living in Los Angeles, California. By 1940, she had returned with Albert to St. Martin Parish by 1940 to live our their final years.
