Charles Robert Girt was born on March 2, 1877 in Bildeston, Suffolk[1]. His parents were Frederick Girt (1858 - 1886) and Sarah Ann (Bull) Girt (1855 - 1935). He was baptisted with his brother George at the Church of Saint Mary Magdalene, Bildeston on 5 January 1878[2]
Charles married Emma Alice Wollard at Bildeson in 1899[3].
In 1901 he was a navvy living at 2 Brickfield Cottages, Holland Road, Great Clackton, Essex[4].
In April 1997, Susan Harris wrote to Lauren Thomson: "They moved to Snodland in Kent and then to Belvedere, Kent, to build the Erith oil works. He then worked there for the rest of his life."
Charles died on August 14, 1965 aged 88[1].
