Mary was born c1851 based on her age in the 1881 Census and her age at death. According to her marriage certificate and the information entered in the Victorian Death Index she is the daughter of Frederick and Mary (nee Bell) Girvan. According to the 1881 Scotland Census she was born in Glasgow.
She married William Girvan on 25 Nov 1870 at the Free Church Manse, Dennistoun[1]. She was 19y of age and living at 42 Struthers Street, Glasgow. She was a Cotton Weaver (spelt "Cotten Weaver"). Both Mary's parents were still living.
The marriage certificate indicates the term "Cousins German" after spinster. I had not heard of this expression until now, but apparently it means the same thing as first cousins.
She appears in the 1881 Scotland Census[2]
