William was born 6 June 1772 in Baltimore County, Maryland, which where he grew up.[1] He received 7,000 acres of land on the Salt River in Washington County.[1] He received this from Hugh Tennill, but it is not known if Hugh is any relation to Williams's wife, Margaret.[1] He died in 1855 in Illinois.
Marriage
He married Margaret Tennill in Kentucky. She died in 1829 and was the mother of his children. After removing to Illinois, he married a second time, to Catherine E. Prather, on 8 October 1829.[1]
