Biography
Lionel was born in 1885.
It appears that following his marriage in 1908 he became the leaseholder for the Nangus hotel in June 1909. He appears to have stayed in Nangus for several years and played cricket for the local team.
In 1920 he had a horse stolen at Murwillumbah, NSW. It appears he was a banana farmer on the Border Road at the time.
During WW2 he enlisted in the AMF as a Private (N298249) on 20 Mar 1942 and gave his birthday as 26 Jun 1888 (presumably 3 years younger than he was). He served with Corps HQ and was discharged on 16 Nov 1943.[1]
