Obituary

Ferdinand Freddie Gitz, age 82, of Lengby, Minnesota, died on Saturday November 8th, 2014 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 13th, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Bagley, Minnesota. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted with the arrangements.

He was born in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, the son of Adolf and Lydia (Muller) Gitz. He attended school in Pelican Rapids and at the Uran School. In 1949, his family moved to Lengby. Frederick left for Boise, Idaho in 1958 to work on a garden farm. He alson worked at American Crystal Sugar in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He came back to Lengby in 1965. Frederick lived a quiet life, loving his dogs, John Deere tractors and Ford pickups.

He is survived by his sisters, Dorothy Plante and Lillian Abraham; his brothers, Elmer Gitz and Robert Gitz; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Irvin, August, Herman, and an infant brother; his sister, Erma Black; his nephew Rick Gitz; and his niece, Annette Abraham. [1]
