Biography

Lorenzo was Christened at Dalmatia

"WEDDING. Giutronich - Gollan. A very pretty wedding was celebrated at Woodburn on Wednesday, June,17 in the Presbyterian Church; the contracting parties being Miss Ivy Gollan; daughter of Mr. George Gollan, "Glen Eden, Woodburn, and Mr. Lawrence Giutronich, Broadwater. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. A Perkins, B,A. The bride was attired in white silk with Empire trained skirt, elaborately trimmed with silk lace and insertion and silk lace streamers, and carried a shower bouquet of white roses and asparagus fern. The usual veil and orange blossoms were also worn which gave the bride (as the chairman, remarked) a queenly appearance. The bride was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Icy Patterson, (niece of the bride), who wore a dress of turquoise blue silk, striped voile trimmed with silk yak insertion, cream net and turquoise velvet, and white felt hat, trimmed with turquoise ,blue silk and feather mounts to match. The second brides-maid. Miss Monnie Gollan wore a dress of lavender Sicilian, trimmed silk yak insertion and cream net, and cream hat to match, trimmed with lavender silk and feather mount. Both bridesmaids carried shower bouquets of pale pink and white roses, and maiden-hair fern with white streamers. The bride's dresses and bouquets were made by Miss Campbell, of Woodburn. The bridegroom was. attended by Mr. G. Gollan, jun. (brother of the bride), and Mr Frank Gollan as groomsman. The bridegroom's gifts to the bride were a beautiful gold bangle set with pearls and rubies, gold brooch and muff chain; and to the bridesmaids gold bamboo bangles. The church was nicely decorated with ferns and arum lilies by friends of the bride. After the "I wills" were pronounced, the bridal party drove to the residence of the bride's parents where a sumptuous repast was partaken of. The order in which the party (consisting of about 40 vehicles) arrived at "Glen Eden," was a very attractive sight. The usual toasts were proposed and responded to. The chairman and other speakers spoke their regret at losing Woodburn's nightingale, but hoped that Mr. Giutronich would not in future debar his wife from giving them occasionally the benefit of her talents. The bride's travelling dress was of green diagonal trimmed with cream satin applique and ball fringe, with a green felt hat trimmed with green silk, pink roses, and green feather mounts tinged with brown. A lovely three-decker wedding cake (the work of Mr. Sheather, of Woodburn) was much admired both, for appearance and taste. In the afternoon the happy couple drove to Lismore en route for Byron Bay and Sydney. (where the honeymoon is to be spent) amidst showers of rice, rose leaves and confetti. The presents were numerous and costly including many cheques. , As the party neared and left '"Glen Eden" Mr. McKenzie played some old Scotch airs on the pipes in his usual good style."
