Samuel Givens was born in 1693, in Antrim, County Antrim, Ireland. He married Sarah Cathey about 1718, in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 5 daughters. He immigrated to Augusta, Virginia, British Colonial America in 1739 and lived in Lincoln, Kentucky, United States in 1790. He died from 22 October 1740 to 28 May 1741, in Augusta, Virginia, British Colonial America, and was buried in Fort Defiance, Augusta, Virginia, United States.
