George Givens is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A045488.

George was the 1st. Givens born in America. He was born after his father Samuel died (1740). He moved to Botetourt Va. Where he served as a Lieutenant in Lord Dunmore War against the indians and later as Captain in the Revolutionary War. He married Rachel Black in 1767 at Cow Pasture Va. (DAR record). George then moved his family to Lincoln Kentucky. George & Rachael had 7 children 5 sons, Samuel, James, William, George Jr., and John. And 2 daughters Sarah & Rachel.

The family plot originally located on Capt. George Givens' homestead was relocated to Buffalo Springs when the local airport had need of land to extend the runway. Joe Grimes, Givens descendant, worked for many years to get the graves moved. In the spring of 1985 the family gathered for a re-dedication service. It was my honor to be there.

Givens-1544 and Givens-400 appear to represent the same person because: I overlooked this profile when I took over what became 1544.
