Biography

William Burrows Glading was born in 1847 at St Austell, Cornwall, England. He was the son of Richard Glading and Emma Burrows.[1]

In the 1851 census, William Glading was age 3 living at St Mewan, Cornwall with his father Richard Glading (41), mother Emma Glading (36), sisters Mary Glading (13), Emma Glading (8), Ann Glading (6), Caroline Glading (3), brother John Glading (1).[2]

In the 1861 census, William Glading was age 14 living at York Lane, Plymouth, Devon with his father Richard Glading (51), mother Emma Glading (45), sister Ann Glading (17), brothers John Glading (12), Tom Glading (8).[3]

In the 1871 census, William Glading was age 25 living at Tavistock, Devon in the household of Edward Slocombe, a grocer, probably as a lodger. Occupation: Moulder.[4]

William Borrows Glading (age 24; bachelor; Moulder; residing at 3 Morley Place; father Richard Glading, engine fitter) married Sarah Ann Coombs (age 25; spinster; residing at 3 Morley Place; father John Coombs, servant) on 28 Dec 1871 at St Andrew, Plymouth, Devon. Witnesses were her cousin George Gray and sister Catherine Earl.[5] They had eight children: Catherine Emma Glading (b. 1872), William Burrows Glading (1874–1874), Mary Grace Glading (b. 1875), William Burrows Glading (b. 1876), Sarah Louisa Glading (b. 1877), Ann Glading (b. 1879), John Richard Glading (b. 1881), Caroline Glading (b. 1887).

In the 1881 census, William B Glading was age 33 living at Seward St, St Luke, London with his wife Sarah Ann Glading (33), daughters Catherine E Glading (8), Mary Grace Glading (5), Sarah L Glading (3), Ann Glading (1), sons William B Glading (4), John Glading (0). Occupation: Iron Moulder.[6]

In the 1891 census, William B Glading was age 53? living at Battersea, London with his wife Sarah Ann Glading (45), daughters Mary G Glading (15), Ann Glading (11), sons William B Glading (14), John R Glading (10). Occupation: Iron Moulder Founder.[7][8]

In the 1901 census, William B Glading was age 53 living at Burnham, Buckinghamshire with his wife Sarah Ann Glading (55), daughters Mary G Glading (26), Amy Glading (21), Caroline Glading (13). Also boarder James Edwards (27). Occupation: Foreman Iron Moulder.[9]

In the 1911 census, William Burrows Glading was age 65 living at Burnham, Buckinghamshire with his wife Sarah Ann Glading (65). Also Assistant Worker Daisy Nellie Allder (19).[10]

William Burrows Glading died in 1916 age 69 at Burnham, Buckinghamshire.[11] He was buried at Saint Peter Churchyard, Burnham.[12]
