Biography

Victor Ambrose GLADMAN, regimental number 5684, Roman Catholic, labourer of Clowa, Victoria, was single when on 20 July 1915 he enlisted in the Australian Imperial Forces as a private. His unit was the 8th Battalion, 18th Reinforcement, which embarked from Melbourne on board HMAT A33 'Ayrshire' on 3 July 1916. His AWM Embarkation Roll number was 23/25/5 and his rank from the Nominal Roll was Corporal. He returned to Australia on 12 July 1919 after war service on the Western Front. He was awarded a British War Medal and a Victory Medal.
