Hannah was born about 1824. She may have been the daughter of John Glaister and Sarah Knox. (see notes) ^[1]

Research Notes

Added as daughter based on 1841 census family group but no birth record with this date and parents has been found. She may be Hannah Glaister the daughter of Robert Glaister and Mary Fishburn.

As family relationships are not recorded on the 1841 census, it's possible that Hannah was another relative - perhaps sister of Stephen and George, who were also with the family on the 1841 census and born in Scotland. Robert Glaister (abt.1784-1828) and Mary (Fishburn) Glaister (abt.1789-1855) had children of these similar names and ages. No baptismal records for Stephen, George or Hannah can be found on Scotlands People site. It's possible they were born in Scotland but baptised elsewhere.

Her age on the 1841 census record could be read as '25' which gives a birth year of about 1815. There is a baptismal record at Wooler in 1815 for a Hannah, daughter of Robert and Mary Glaister. However, analysis of the surrounding handwriting indicates the age to actually be '15' as transcribed.^[2][3]

There is a Hannah living with her 'brother' Stephen (with matching details) on the 1881 census at Wooler. She is recorded as sister of head of the household but this may actually refer to the relationship with his wife^[4]
