Elizabeth Glanfield was born in Cornwall, England.
Biography
Elizabeth Glanfield was born between 1727 and 1729. There are three possibilities for her parentage:[1]
bap. 1 May 1727 at Newlyn East, dau. of John and Prudence Glanville
bap. 3 Jun 1727 at St Columb Major, dau. of Samuel & Mary Glanfield
bap. 21 Sep 1728 at St Columb Major, dau. of Thomas & Mary/Elizabeth Glanfield
Whether the name was Glanville or Glanfield seems to be a matter of the preference of the scribe, rather than distinguishing between quite separate families.
On 9 Nov 1745, at St Dennis Chapel, Elizabeth married Anthony Hawkey, the son of Richard and Joan Hawkey.[2]

Elizabeth and Anthony had three sons, the last born four months after Anthony's death:
Anthony died and was buried on 12 Dec 1754 at Newlyn East, Cornwall.[6]
On 12 Dec 1754, Elizabeth married William Paynter,[7] the son of Francis Paynter and Grace Vivian. Elizabeth and William had eight children:
William, bap. 27 Dec 1756, Newlyn East;[8] d. 3 Jul 1841, St Issey[9]
Elizabeth, bap. 1 May 1759, Newlyn East;[10] bur. 16 Sep 1850, Tredore, St Issey[11]
Francis, bap. 21 May 1762, Newlyn East;[12] d. 07 Jun 1835[13]
Samuel, bap. 17 Dec 1771, Newlyn East;[19] bur. 12 May 1773[20]
Samuel, bap. 24 Nov 1774, Newlyn East;[21] d. 24 Jul 1844, Richmond, Surrey[22]
Elizabeth died in 1798 and was buried at St Issy on 24 Mar 1798.[23] William died 3 years later. There is a fine marble memorial to William & Elizabeth in the Church at St. Issey, erected by their son Samuel in 1813:
