1845 Birth: Elizabeth was born in 5 May 1845, in Minterne Magna, Dorset. Her father William Glasby (abt.1813-1899) was a carter and her mother was Mary (Root) Glasby (abt.1811-1894) (Rutt per Elizabeth birth certificate, but that could be down to her mother's accent in Dorset). William and Mary were from East Yorkshire, but came down to Dorset for about 10 years during the 1840/50s for some reason.

1845 Baptism: Elizabeth was baptised on 29 June 1845 in Minterne Magna, Dorset, England.[1]
1861 Census: By 1861 the Glasby family had moved back to East Yorkshire and Elizabeth was a housemaid with the Parker family at 9 Coburg Terrace, South Myton, Hull. She was 15 years old and the census says she was born in Minterne, Dorset. Ann Parker (49 and head) was a Dock (?) and House Proprietor. [2]
1868 Marriage On 1 October 1868, Elizabeth married George William Bailey (1848-1927) at St Anne's Church in Ellerker, East Yorkshire. She was 23 years old and living in Ellerker at the time of the wedding, George was living in Cliffe-cum-Lund in the parish of Hemingborough. Her father William Glasby was a labourer. [1] [2] [3]

1871 Census: At the time of the 1871 George and Elizabeth after 2 years on marriage are living in Hemingborough, part of Parish of Cliffe, East Yorkshire. She is 24 and, George is 23 and East Riding Policeman. Hemingborough is on the North side of the Hull and Selby Railway. [4]
1872 Birth of Son: George William Bailey (1872-abt.1946) was born on the 9 November 1872 in Cliffe cum Lund, Yorkshire.
1874 Birth of Son: Arthur Edward Bailey (abt.1874-abt.1946) was born on 10 February 1874 in Newport, Yorkshire.
1877 Birth of Son: Charles Herbert Bailey (abt.1877-abt.1907) was born in Newport, Yorkshire.
1878 Birth of Daughter : By the time their daughter, Emma Louisa (Bailey) Stephenson (1878-1936) was born on the 7 July 1878, the family had moved to Easington, Yorkshire, were George was a Police Constable.
1881 Census: At the time of the census they are now living in Hull at 12 Rugby Terrace, Eton Street, Kingston upon Hull. She is 35 and her husband is 32 and now a Dock Labourer. They have 4 children George William 9, Arthur Edward 7, Charles Herbert 4, Emma Louisa 2. [5]

1891 Census: In 1891 they re living at 21 Harrow Street, Holy Trinity, Kingston upon Hull, East Yorkshire. She is 45 and her husband George is 42 and a dock labourer. They have 6 children living at their home, George 19, an engine stoker, Arthur 17, an engine cleaner, Charles 14, an errand boy at the port, Emma 12 and Margaret 9 are at school and their youngest Elsie is at home. 1894 Death of Mother: Her mother Mary (Root) Glasby (abt.1811-abt.1894) died on 28 October 1894 in Ellerker, East Yorkshire at the age of 83.
1897 Marriage of Son: Their son George William Bailey (1872-abt.1946) married Clara Dent in Barton-upon-Humber, Lincolnshire.
1899 Death of Father: Her father William Glasby (abt.1813-1899) died on 16 August 1899 in Ellerker, East Yorkshire at the age of 85.
1901 Census: The family lived at 13 Haverlock Street, Hull, East Yorkshire. Elizabeth is 54 and her husband George is 52 and a Corn Merchant Porter. They 5 children at home, Arthur 27, a Loco Gland Packer (packs glands of steam regulator valves and pump valves of engine with greased hemp or asbestos packing to make steam joints steam-tight or water-tight), Emma 22, a dressmaker (own Account), Charles 24, a Corn Merchant Porter like his father. Margaret is 19 and Elsie 12. Also living with family is John Coates Glasby 52, a groom, Elizabeth's younger brother. [7]
1902 Marriage of Daughter: Their daughter Emma Louisa (Bailey) Stephenson (1878-1936) married Samuel Stephenson (1876-1934) on the 22 September 1902.
1907 Death of Son: Their son Charles Herbert Bailey (abt.1877-abt.1907) died on the 10 September 1907 at the age of 30.[8]
1908 Death of Brother: Her brother Bateson Glasby (abt.1851-1908) died in June 1908 at the age of 63.
1907 Death of Son: Her brother William Glasby (abt.1853-1909) died on 2 July 1909 at the age of 64.
1911 Census: On the 02 Apr 1911, the family are living at 52 Tadman Street, Hessle Road, Hull, East Yorkshire. Elizabeth was 64 and they had been married for 42 years and the census states she had had 7 children and 2 had already died. George her husband was 62 and a Dock Labourer. Their house had 9 room and also living with them was their daughter Elsie who was 22, John Coates Glasby 62, Elizabeth’s brother, living on own means and formerly a groom, plus their elder daughter Margaret 29, her husband Albert 30, a railway managers assistant and their 3 daughters, Elsie 4, Edna 3 and Elizabeth 1. 1915 Death of Brother: Her brother John Coates Glasby (1847-abt.1915) died in the January quarter 1908 at the age of 69.
1918 Death: Elizabeth died on the 15 March 1918, at 52 Tadman Street, Hull, East Yorkshire at the age of 72, of cancer of the lungs syncope. The death was registered by the coroner, Alfred Thorney after an inquest on the 15 March 1918. The certificate states her husband was a tallyman. [10]
