Biography

William Glasgow Jr was a Nebraskan.

William was born April 8,1869 in Nebraska (likely Peru, Nemaha, Nebraska). [1]He was the fifth child and third son of William Glasgow and Sarah Majors.

In 1898 he enlisted in the Army in Lincoln, Nebraska. He served in the Spanish-American War and ended up in a disabled soldiers hospital in Hot Springs, South Dakota (Battle Mountain Sanitarium) with epilepsy.[2]

On February 16, 1901 he married Helen Whitney at the home of his brother Sterling Perry Glasgow. He had been living in Peru, Nebraska, which is where I feel certain he was born.[3]

In 1902 their daughter Alice Elizabeth was born in Peru, Nebraska. She was followed, in 1905, by a brother Whitney. A third child, Joyce, was born in 1918.

Interestingly, on the 1930 Census he said he was widowed (yet Helen didn't die until 1943) and he was a lodger in the home of Alice Abbott.[4]

On April 9, 1931 he married the landlady, Alice G Abbott.[5]

Bert died April 28, 1947 in Hot Springs, South Dakota.[6]
