Biography

Joseph was born in 1783, in Rockbridge County, Virgnia. He was the son of Arthur Glasgow and Rebecca Anderson McNutt.

During the War of 1812, was served in the Rockbridge Light Horse Cavalry under Col. James Mcdowell, 5th Regiment, Virginia Militia[1].

On 26 Feb 1816, he married Nancy Ellis McCulloch[2]. They had two children.

  1. Rebecca Glasgow b. 1817 - d. 1837, age 20
  2. Elizabeth A Glasgow b. 1819 - d. aft. 1895, m. Hobson Johns

Joseph lived in Rockbridge throughout his life, where he was a farmer. It is here he passed away in 1856, age 73, from "disease of kidney"[3]. He is buried at the Oak Grove Cemetery.
