John Henry Glasson was born on 24th June 1854 at Tremearne, Breage, Cornwall, England. He was the eldest child of Henry Glasson and Annie Paull.[1]
The Glasson family set sail from London, England via Plymouth on 28 Dec 1860 aboard the ship, Sussex and arrived in Hobson's Bay, Victoria on 11 Mar 1861. The family consisted of parents, Henry Glasson (age 34, farmer) and Ann (34), their 4 sons, John (6), Henry (5), Joseph (3) and Robert (2). Also aboard was Henry's sister Susan (38)[2][3]. They continued their journey on to New South Wales, Australia the same year where sadly their twin brothers, Richard and William, passed away the same year.

Glasson Noted Sheep Exhibitor The late John Henry Glasson, of 'Stanfield,' Carcoar, was a well-known sheep exhibitor in country shows.He, with his late brother, Mr. Harry Glasson, of Woodstock, were constant winners in the merino section, and their products were noted in various country areas. Mr. Glasson, who was in his 90th year, died on Easter Monday. His death was briefly reported in Friday's 'West Macquarie.' With his family, John Glasson came out to Australia from England when, he was nine years of age, and settled on 'Stanfield.' On the death of his father the property came under his control. He has lived there for 80 years. Mr. Glasson was a most highly respected resident of the district, and sympathy is extended to his family. In the last two years the three remaining brothers of the family have passed away. All were over 80 — the late John Glasson being the eldest. His wife and seven children survive. They are Gwen, Paul, Enid (Mrs. John Crosby, New Zealand), Ian, Thora (Mrs.Brian Hill, 'Stanfield'), Margaret and Bessie. One son, Norman, paid the supreme sacrifice in the defence of his country. He died of wounds in Egypt some months ago. The funeral took place last Tuesday and interment was made in the Presbyterian portion of Carcoar cemetery. The funeral cortege was representative, and showed the esteem in which deceased was held. Cam Reed and Son Blayney, had charge of the arrangements.
