Amasa was born to Henry and Hannah Gleason in 1776 at Rowe, Massachusetts. [1] His parents relocated to Halfmoon, Saratoga, New York where he married Aner Griffith. [2]
By the 1810 census, Amasa's household had grown to nine members, [3]
and after a couple of interim moves, he was living at Tioga, New York in 1840. [4]
Approximately one year after his wife's death in 1814 he married second wife Lydia Northrup. By 1845 Amasa followed some of his children to Lake County, Illinois and he died September 7, 1854. [5]
