Research Notes

  • In 1900 US Census, Lelia Boyden (enumerated as Leila) is shown as stepdaughter of head of household, James Bullis. Jame's wife, Mary, as shown, would be Lelia's mother. Lelia is enumerated age 44, born Jul 1855, married 19 years, 2 children, both living, which would be her enumerated daughters Dolly and Nellie; ignoring her son, Alfred, who at this time is living in Idaho. Her mother Mary is enumerated age 68, born Feb 1832, married 32 years (c1868), 7 children, 5 living. This suggests that Mary's current marriage is her second, the first being with Mr. Gleason, Lelia's father. Also enumerated is James' daughter Cora Bullis, age 32, born May 1868. Mary could be her mother and she could be Lelia's half sister.
