Grace Adelaide May Gledhill (married name Bowles) was born on 11 January 1891 at Sweeneys Creek in the Shire of Strathfieldsaye, Victoria, Australia, the daughter of Sarah Ellen (Lewis) Gledhill and Charles Frederick Walker Gledhill.^[1]

She married Aubrey Denham Bowles on 12 July 1911 in Bendigo, Victoria.^[2] Their children were:^{[citation needed]}
