Biography

John Glendenning was born 11 Mar 1748 to John Glendenning and baptised 28 May 1748 in Dumfries, Dumfriesshire. [1]

He married Jennett Willson ca. 1775 in Virginia.[citation needed]

1803-04 Jackson Township, OHIO

"John Glendening came to Jackson Township about the year 1803 or 1804, and settled on over 100 acres of land in what is now the western part of the township, part of his farm being in Jackson, and part in Franklin Township.

He was a native of Scotland, and emigrated to America, where he married Jenett Wilson, a native of Ireland.

At the time of their emigration to Ohio, they had nine children -- six girls and three sons -- one son having died in Virginia.

Their children are now all dead, and their sole representatives in the county are four grandsons and one grand-daughter. A grand-daughter also lives in Highland County and a grandson in Missouri."[2]

In 1830, he was listed in Jackson, Brown County, Ohio. The household consisted of 2 white males -- 1 age 10-15 years; the other 80-90 years -- as well as a white female age 70-80.[3]

John died on 9 Jul 1839 and is buried in Inskeep Cemetery in Brown County, Ohio.[4]

Glendenning-320 and Glendenning-2 appear to represent the same person because: Same birth and death dates; reference to the same Find-a-Grave memorial; Glendenning-320 mentions the same wife in his bio. So, these two profiles are intended to represent the same person and should be merged.

There is a discrepancy in the birthplace, but this can be either be documented in a research note if there's no positive proof, or it can be corrected when the merge is completed.

Thanks!

Glendenning-320 and Glendenning-2 do not represent the same person because: Same name, but born in different countries.
