He came from Little Britain, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania to Old Tryon County/Lincoln County, North Carolina on the state line later disputed between South Carolina and North Carolina. He came with his brother Alexander Glen who lived across the State line in Pendleton County, South Carolina until both families left sons in charge of their lands and removed 1806 to White County, Tennessee. This is where both brothers died and are buried in Old Shady Grove Cemetery near Sparta Tennessee. Their descendants migrated North and West.
This family was appalled at slavery and some came north away from that evil before the Civil War. There is a letter where they expressed their disapproval of the practice.
Robert died on 13 Jul 1820 and was buried at Shady Grove Cemetery, Sparta, White, Tennessee, USA[1]
Resource Notes
There does not seem much to link Robert to any parents. Robert Glenn and Margaret Logan were previously connected and were replaced by Robert Glen and Margaret Rankin. That there is a marriage record for the latter couple in Boston does match the surname of the latter Margaret is clearly recognized, but it is difficult to know for certain that that marriage had anything to do with the parents of the Robert of this profile. Certainly, there are unsourced trees online, where some have /LOGAN/ and others have /RANKIN/, but no reliable source seems to indicate either of those names nor do we know the fafher's name other than the surname is likely /GLENN/.
The Boston marriage seems a bit odd given the bio stating the family was from the South and migrated North. Since they conflict, we can be certain that they are not both correct but that leaves one wondering if either is correct or, if one is correct, which one?
