William Lee Fruit s/o Thomas Clark & Elizabeth Thompson Fruit (brother of Enoch Alexander Fruit, below) b. 15 Dec 1813 Christian co. Kentucky d. 16 Sept 1897 Cherryvale, Montgomery co. Kansas. Both buried Rock Creek Cemetery, near Waynesville, Illinois. Isabel's middle name of Clark (apparently she was named after her great-aunt) was listed in the Dewitt County Death Register, Book 1, but it also listed her first name, mistakenly, as Elizabeth. Letitia Jane b. 26 Sept 1823 Crawford co. Ind. d. 30 July 1846 Dewitt co. Ill. m. 31 May 1841 Pike co. Ill. James Andrew Scott (her cousin), s/o John II & Mary Keith Scott, b. 2 Mar 1817 Jackson co. Tennessee d. 1872 Daviess co. Mo. 3 children. Thomas Glenn forbade Letitia to marry James, but they eloped to Pike county and were married; Letitia was disinherited and the rest of her family was not allowed to see her. However, her mother secretly stole out and visited her when she was ill and dying. Anna Glenn said she felt that having 3 children so close together and Letitia's longing to see her family could have hastened her early death. Samuel Porter b. 6 Nov 1825 Sangamon co. Samuel served in the Mexican war in 1845, in Colonel Baker's regiment, Co. E, 4th Illinois infantry. He also enlisted 17 July 1861 (another record says 28 May 1861) in the Civil War and raised Company F, 6th Iowa Infantry; took part in the Battle of Shiloh (in which his cousin Levi Scott was killed), and was a Captain. Samuel was a founding member of the Osceola Christian Church in June, 1855. He also served as township supervisor in Fremont township from at least 1861 to 1870. Jan 1831 New York d. after 1895; she had 7 children by earlier marriage(s), all living in 1900. Listed as "D.J." Glenn in the 1850 census; probably known as "T.J.". He moved to Iowa with the rest of the family, and is listed in the 1860 Clarke co. Iowa census with 3 children. They moved back to Dewitt county Illinois about 1861 and had one more child. They are listed in Dewitt county in the 1870 census and lived there until at least 1874, but they were back in Clarke co. Iowa in 1880, and for the 1885 and 1895 state censuses.
