Previous biography said he was born and died in Berkeley, West Virginia (but West Virginia wasn't a state yet, it was only Virignia). Married Martha Glenn in Berkeley, Virginia.


The Will

"In the name of God, Amen, I James Glenn, of Tuscasosa, Berkeley County & Colony of Virginia, Tailor, being week of body but of sound memory, blesses be God and calling to mind the mortality of my body, and knowing that it is appointed to all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that it is to say. ______ following,
first I give & bequeath & recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God, and my body to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors and as touching as my worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life. :I give & bequeath of in form and in manner following size.
I give & bequeath to my eldest son John Glenn, a young Negro boy named Dick.
ITEM. I give & bequeath unto my second son, James Glenn, a Negro man named Lamm, and to his heirs.
ITEM; I give & bequeath unto my third son, William Glenn and to his heirs, a young boy, Negro boy named Tom.
ITEM. I give & bequeath unto my oldest daughter, Sean(spelling) Miller, during her life time, a young Wench named Dinah and then to descend to her son James Miller, and his heirs forever.
ITEM: I give & bequeath unto my second daughter, Margaret Snodgrass and her heirs a Negro woman named Luca,
likewise I give & bequeath unto my beloved wife Martha Glenn the remainder of my estate to be disposed of by her as she shall think fit. My funeral charges being first discharged with all my just debts.
And also I make constitute and appoint my beloved wife Martha Glenn and my son Wm. Glenn to be my sole executors of this my last will and testament, to adjust and regulate this my Estate, as before directed, and I do hereby disallow, revoke and disa___ all & every other wills, testaments, & Dowers, satisfying & confirming this & no others to be my last will.
In witness whereas i hereunto set my hand & seal this
11th March Anno Domini 1774

Glenn-1361 and Glenn-475 appear to represent the same person because: They look like they are the same, and I found a Will for a James Glenn proven in Tuscasosa, Berkely, Colony of Virginia, March 1774.. I will make a note of it on the bulletin on the profile Thank you Carole
