William was from Somerset County in Pennsylvania. Based upon Marietta, Ohio, tax records he had moved there before 1840. In 1846 he married Washington County, Ohio, native Abigail Devol. Sometime between 1850 and 1860 the Glessners would move to Minnesota, settling in the Minneapolis area.
William and Abbie would have five children; Frank, John, Abby, Charles and Nettie.
William Glessner would pass away in 1894 at the age of 78.
