William was born about 1868. [1]
He was the son of Thomas Glew and Mary Brown. [2]
William married Annie Briggs (daughter of Thomas Briggs) on the 14th of July 1890 at Woodhouse, Yorkshire. [3]
The 1891 census at Doncaster Road, Wath upon Dearne, Yorkshire has William (22, Married, Coal Miner) in the household of his Uncle, Peter Brown (born c. 1861, Lincolnshire). Also listed are Peter's wife and daughters along with William's wife Annie (born c. 1866, Yorkshire) and the infant, George Glew. [4]
The 1911 census at Ordsall, Nottinghamshire has William (44, Railway Servant, Whitewasher of Cattle Pens) and Annie (46). Also listed are Fred Glew (21, [5]), Willie Glew (20), Annie Glew (18), Elsie Glew (11) and Martha Glew (7). A boarder, Thomas Walker (born Worksop, c. 1891, Labourer in Stove Grate Makers Ironworks) is also listed in the household. [6]
