American author and music critic. She is best known for her 1932 biography of composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the first American published biography of Mozart. Davenport also is known for her novels The Valley of Decision and East Side, West Side, both of which were adapted to film in 1945 and 1949, respectively.
Marcia was born June 9, 1903 in Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA. She is the daughter of Bernard Glick and Alma Gluck Feinsohn. Her father was born in New York and 33 years old at the time and her mother Riba Telesjohn was born in Rumania and was 21 years old at the time.[1]
Her 1st marriage was to Frank Delmas Clarke in April of 1923 and they were the parents of 1 daughter born 1924 before they divorced in 1925.
Her 2nd marriage was to Russell Davenport on May 13, 1929 in Manhattan, New York City, New York. She was divorced, 25 years old, born New York City and her parents were Bernard Glick and Alma Fiersohn. He was single, 28 years old, born Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and his parents were Russell W. Davenport and Cornelia Whipple Farnum.[2]
Marcia died at the age of 92 on January 6, 1996 in Monterey, Monterey county, California.
