Mary Glidden is recorded as dying at age 23, and is recorded at Jefferson, Maine -- though without a marriage date -- as the first wife of Zaccheus Hatch. Calculation, working backward from Zaccheus's known December, 1777, second marriage to Persis Dunbar, suggests a brief first union with Mary Glidden in, say, 1776. The birth of one daughter, Polly Hatch (commonly a nickname for Mary), is recorded at Jefferson, but again, without a date. Further calculation yields an approximate birth date of 1753 for Mary Glidden.
The profile of husband Zaccheus Hatch includes a more detailed explanation of the estimated dates.
